Portable audio is a crowded category. Here is how we placed DSound between cheap import and the premium names.
Portable audio splits in two: very cheap and very expensive. The middle was surprisingly empty when we launched DSound.
We chose a price point just above the impulse threshold and spent the money on battery life, build quality and packaging. Customers notice those three things in store, they do not read spec sheets.
The biggest lever was the demo unit. A speaker that sits charged and playing in the store sells several times what a boxed one does. So we ship a demo unit and display to every retailer.
Next up is a larger model for hospitality and job sites. It arrives in autumn.
